Let's Write Some Music
This Field Trip is now full. If you have not registered, we hope that you will be able to attend next year.
Although the concert is designed for the K-6th grade age group we have been informed that entire families are welcome to attend. Do keep in mind, though, that this an auditory experience so we do encourage families to make other arrangements for infants or toddlers during this hour-long concert.
The program will explore the art of composing through exciting masterworks by Haydn, Bizet, Stravinsky, Copland, and Gould. By examining the compositional "tools" of inspiration, musical building blocks, form and orchestration, students will experience and participate in the processes that composers use to create music for the symphony orchestra. A Teacher Guide and CD has been provided to aid in teaching the music theory which will presented at the concert. KAHSA received a few of these packets which will be loaned out through the KAHSA Resource Library by contacting Amy Burns at: library@kahsaconnection.com .
The Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra Youth Concert is scheduled for Friday, March 5th at 11:15am at Chenery Auditorium in Kalamazoo. There is a set number of seats that KAHSA reserved which will be filled on a first come basis. These concerts have always proven to be a great hit each year. So sign up now and mark your calendar.
