21st Annual KAHSA Talent & Exhibit Night

Friday, March 23, 2012

Exhibits begin: 6:00 pm; Talent Performance begins: 6:30 p.m.

Location: Kalamazoo Missionary Church Building 5045 E. Michigan Ave Comstock

This event provides a forum for students to develop and demonstrate the gifts God has given them. Participants may take part in both the performance and exhibits. It is a wonderful evening of fellowship, entertainment and refreshment for family and friends!

Instructions

Note: Incomplete entries cannot be processed until all information is received!

1. Must be a KAHSA member to participate; guests are welcome to attend the event.

2. Each participant is limited to a maximum of one solo, duet, or trio and two group performance (four or more participants), OR three group performances. Performers may arrive between 1 - 5:30 pm to practice and make stage or sound arrangements. Microphones, one piano and few music stands are available on stage. Please label any items you bring.

3. Musical performances should not exceed four (4) minutes; limited to one song. Rock style music and instrumentation is not appropriate for this family event.

4. Drama performances should not exceed seven (7) minutes. Include clear description of the drama in the Entry Form.

5. Music and drama entries are subject to review and approval by the coordinators. We will notify you if we need additional information about your entry.

6. Exhibits may include one or more arts/crafts, school projects, science projects, collections, group/family displays, hands-on or interactive exhibits, and live exhibits (with prior permission). Select half or full round 6’ table on Entry Form.

7. Exhibitors can arrive Friday afternoon between 1 and 5:30 pm to set up. Exhibits must be ready by 5:45 pm.

8. Each family should drop off in the kitchen: 3 dz cookies or equivalent veggie tray, snacks, or other finger foods (label trays).

9. Each participating family must volunteer to assist with set up, clean up, or to serve refreshments.

10. Task Leaders will be recruited to oversee specific tasks (such as table set-up, stage clearing/set-up, drinks, food tray preparation, table tear down, name tag distribution, etc.). If you are willing to volunteer, please indicate on Entry Form.

11. Typically younger performers will be scheduled in the earlier half of the performance (indicate preference on Entry Form).

12. Entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the program is full. If possible, please use the electronic Entry Form and sign up on the KAHSA website (www.kahsaconnection.com) or send in your Entry Form via email or post office.

13. All participants will receive confirmation of their entry by email (or phone if no email is available).

14. Deadline: Entries must be postmarked by Wednesday, March 7^th or received by email or online on Friday, March 9^th.

KAHSA Statement of Faith

I understand that KAHSA is a Christian organization and, as a Christian, I acknowledge and support the following:

1. There is only one God who exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

2. Jesus Christ was the only one who lived a life without sin. Everyone has sinned and needs salvation.

3. Jesus Christ came to earth to pay the penalty for sin through his death on the cross and visible bodily resurrection.

4. Salvation comes by grace through faith and a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

5. The Bible is the inspired Word of God and is without error.

6. In the sanctity of marriage and that it is between one man and one woman.

7. Our lives should demonstrate a Christian character that is in harmony with a profession of faith in Jesus Christ.

Dress Code

Participants, family members, and volunteers representing KAHSA or serving in any capacity will be expected to abide by this policy.

The dress code is not intended to determine right or wrong for your family. It is merely to be respectful of all families and to protect the modesty of everyone involved.

1. No exposed midriffs (raising arms to stretch is necessary, no bellies or backs should show).

2. No low necklines, boat necks, tank tops, or spaghetti straps (girls shouldn't have to worry about their neckline when bending).

3. No excessively baggy clothing (no one should need to hold their clothing in place while moving).

4. No exposed under-clothes (bra straps or under shorts).

5. No form-fitting clothing.

6. No sheer clothing.

7. No T-shirts with inappropriate language or pictures.

8. Shorts and skirts may be no more than 3 inches above the floor when in a kneeling position.
